On August 23, 2023, India made history by becoming the first country to successfully land a spacecraft near the Moon's South Pole. The landing site, located about 600 km away from the South Pole of the Moon, was named "Shivshakti Point".

The name "Shivshakti" is derived from the names of two Hindu deities: Shiva, one of the principal deities, and Shakti, the divine feminine energy often depicted as Shiva's consort. The naming of the point sparked a political row in India, with some people loving the name for giving international recognition to Hindu customs while others criticized it. However, ISRO chairman S Somanath stated that there was no room for controversy over the naming and that there have been precedents of names being assigned to lunar features.

The successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 at Shivshakti Point marks a significant achievement for India's space program. It demonstrates the country's technological prowess and its ability to conduct complex space missions. The mission also opens up new opportunities for scientific exploration and discovery on the Moon's South Pole.

In conclusion, Shivshakti Point represents a triumph for India and a new chapter in humanity's exploration of the Moon. It is a testament to what can be achieved through determination, hard work, and scientific excellence.
